Welcome to Bavarian Day Tours! We look forward to making your vacation special.

Multi-Day Tours

We offer a Variety of Multi-Day Tours

Due to frequent requests, we have created a series of two- and three-day tours encompassing multiple destinations as well as some great places just outside the day tour range from Munich. These multi-day tours allow us to do more in each destination, and at a more leisurly pace. Spending the night in the destination is also often special: you get to experience the locations minus the throngs of daytime tourists.

The brief tour descriptions below are designed to give you a general overview. Of course we are happy to provide you with detailed information on any tour. Please use the buttons below or this link to find out more about our two- and three-day tours from Munich.

All our tours can be customized to suit your needs and interests. Use the button below to get more information.

Two-Day Tours

Rothenburg and Nuremberg

These two great destinations at a relaxed pace. We drive from Munich to Rothenburg, where we spend the night, and go to Nuremberg on the second day. Bonuses of the two-day trip include:

  • Longer stay in pretty Dinkelsbühl (photographers will love this)
  • We drive one of the prettiest sections of the Romantic Road, north of Rothenburg
  • Evening in Rothenburg after the crowds have left, with optional Nightwatchman’s Tour

Rothenburg and Neuschwanstein

This is the tour to pack both these great destinations into one trip. We drive from Munich to Rothenburg, where we spend the night, and go to Neuschwanstein on the second day. It is a bit of a drive – all Autobahn – to get to the castle on day 2, but this is an often requested combination. Bonuses of the two-day trip include:

  • Longer stay in pretty Dinkelsbühl (photographers will love this)
  • Evening in Rothenburg after the crowds have left, with optional Nightwatchman’s Tour

Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and the Zugspitze

The relaxed way to see these two tremendous destinations. Includes Linderhof and Hohenschwangau (optional) also. We usually go to Neuschwanstein on day one, and do the Zugspitze on day two, unless weather dictates otherwise. Overnight in or near Füssen. Bonuses of the two-day trip include:

  • More relaxed pace than doing two separate day trips
  • Having the entire day and evening for the Allgäu (lovely region where the castle is)

Neuschwanstein and Lake Constance

Lake Constance is a great destination but just a little bit too far away for a day trip. So we have packaged it together with Neuschwanstein, which is on the way, since we go the pretty route. At Lake Constance we visit Lindau, Meersburg and the beautiful gardens on Mainau island, which we reach by ferry. Bonuses of the two-day trip include:

  • Only way to see the highlights of Lake Constance on a return trip from Munich
  • It is a very pretty drive along the edge of the Alps on the way to Lindau

Salzburg and Berchtesgaden

Our most requested multi-day trip, we offer both a two-day and three-day version. The two-day version gives us time for a proper visit to Lake Königssee or to the Salzkammergut lake region east of Salzburg. We usually stay the night in Salzburg. Bonuses of the two-day trip include:

  • Many more attractions can be visited than on separate day trips
  • Evening in Salzburg after the crowds have left

Three-Day Tours

King Ludwig Special – All His Castles

We see each one of his three important buildings, one each day – and more! On Day One we visit Neuschwanstein and explore the area; Day Two is for Hohenschwangau and Linderhof; and on Day Three we visit Herrenchiemsee Palace. Overnights in Füssen and the Austrian Alps. Bonuses of this three-day trip include:

  • Beautiful drives and overnights in the mountains Ludwig loved so much
  • This tour is a deep dive into the life and works of King Ludwig II.

Salzburg and Berchtesgaden Extended

Our most requested multi-day trip, we offer both two-day and three-day versions. This three-day version gives us time for a proper visit to the Salzkammergut lake region, including Hallstatt, and Lake Königssee and more. We can get a hotel either in Salzburg or the Salzkammergut. Bonuses of the three-day trip include:

  • Even more attractions can be visited than on the two-day trip
  • Best way to visit Hallstatt at a relaxed pace

Best of Franconia – Highlights of Northern Bavaria

Bamberg and Würzburg are two worthwhile destinations just a bit too far away for day trips from Munich. So we created this three-day trip, which includes Rothenburg and Nuremberg, to cover the delightful region of Franconia. We have overnights in Rothenburg and Bamberg. Bonuses of this three day trip include:

  • Learn the history and get a good feel for the entire region
  • Franconian culinary specialities include succulent meats, wine and beer

The Black Forest from Munich

On a retrun trip from Munich, we need at least three days to properly experience the magic of the Black Forest. On the drive there, we have some stops at Lake Constance and begin exploring the southern Black Forest. Day Two is for cuckoo clocks and scenic views. On day three we take a panoramic drive through the northern Black Forest.

  • See the best of the Black Forst, both north and south
  • Both overnights in the Titsee-Neustadt area

German Automotive Engineering

On this special trip for car lovers and gearheads, we visit the museums of all four southern German car manufacturers: Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche. All are reliably comprehensive and architecturally impressive. Each manufacturer has its unique history and philosophy on how to present their engineering and design achievements.

  • Can be adapted to focus on your favorite makes, such as adding factory tours.
  • The one-upmanship in museum design led to stunning architecture
